GARRISON WHITE

A master of the twelve string guitar, Garrison White combines classical music training with the hard driving rhythms of rock and roll. Garrrison has his own unique sound, yet he is often compared to great artists like Cat Stevens and Van Morrison. As a songwriter, he is heavily influenced by traditional Irish music. The L.A. Weekly calls Garrison's original tunes "as haunting as they are beautiful".

A native of Pittsburgh, Garrison found a love for the guitar at the age of seven. At fourteen, he was opening for acts like 70's superstar Doctor Hook. After attending Indiana University, Garrison moved to Los Angeles where he studied classical guitar at California Institute of the Arts. In Los Angeles, Garrison formed the bands Potter's Field and Beneath The Wheel and opened for stars like Rita Coolidge, The Young Dubliners, and The Chieftans. Garrison, who speaks (and sings) fluent Russian, was invited by Steven Speilberg to sing at Speilberg's mother's 75th birthday bash at Universal Studios.

While touring Ireland, Garrison opened for such well known acts as The Commitments, The Wolf Tones, The Furies, Maken and Clancy. He was also invited to share the stage with Van Morrison and Jerry Lee Lewis at the world famous Bad Bob's in Dublin. Back Stage West says "Garrison White draws you in with his powerful voice and remarkable guitar playing ability ... A truly charismatic performer ... A must see".

Kacey Jones, producer of "Pearls in the Snow, the Songs of Kinky Friedman," produced this album for Garrison.
