Panama Red became famous as one of the original members of Kinky Friedman and The Texas Jewboys long before Kinky made him infamous in the book, "Musical Chairs." Those who are familiar with Panama's earthy guitar style, and who know him as the co-writer of such irreverent Kinky Friedman classics as "Homo Erectus" and "Rock and Roll Across the USA" will be pleasantly surprised to learn that Panama is also the co-writer of two of Kinky's most tender ballads, "Autograph" (recorded by Delbert McClinton on "Pearls in the Snow") and "Popeye the Sailor Man", from the album, "Kinky Friedman".
